Description

WISE (bicycle) Ride on August 6:

This year, the WISE Division Bike Ride will be held on Sunday, August 6, on the old C&NW rail line portion of the Oak Leaf Trail where 400 streamliners once roamed. The ride will start at 1:00 p.m. and we will meet at the Riverside Urban Ecology parking lot, 1500 E Park Place, Milwaukee. The Urban Ecology center will be open from noon to 5:00 p.m. for those who want to look around visit the building.

The ride is free and open to non-NMRA members.

We will ride north on the C&NW line to the end of the C&NW portion of the Oak Leaf trail. For those that are really ambitious, you can continue north on the trail which connects with the Interurban Trail that goes all the way to Sheboyban!

On the way back we will stop at the Hubbard Park Lodge Beer Garden, located along the Oak Leak trail, for refreshments. Refreshments will NOT be provided by the Division.

Description

Quoted from the Urban Ecology Centers Riverside page about parking:

"There is a parking lot for visitors to both the Urban Ecology Center and Riverside Park. When driving west follow Park Place past the Urban Ecology Center over the bridge and turn left to enter the parking lot."

As for the Center itself, their website describes the main building that is home for their offices, classrooms and resource areas as "green" and also offers a home to live animals, informational exhibits and user-friendly material about the enivronment.

The Riverside location has 15 acres of wooded land with a riparian habitat across the river as well as a habitat inspired playground.
